Surgery Set For A's Duchscherer
Oakland right-handed pitcher Justin Duchscherer will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right elbow and is expected to miss at least the first month of the season.  "He was projected as a No. 1 guy. It's something we have to overcome as a team," manager Bob Geren said.

Elbow Pain Sidelines A's Duchscherer
Oakland manager Bob Geren said there was "zero chance" that right-handed pitcher Justin Duchscherer will start the team's home opener April 10 against the Seattle Mariners.  Duchscherer has been bothered by elbow soreness and will start the year on the disabled list.

A's Shut Down Chavez
Oakland third baseman Eric Chavez experienced pain in his right shoulder and will be held out of games for an undetermined time.  Chavez had surgery last season to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

Crosby Asks A's To Trade Him
Shortstop Bobby Crosby told Oakland officials Friday that he wants to be traded to a team in need of a starting shortstop.  The A's signed shortstop Orlando Cabrera earlier this week.  Crosby, 28, batted .237 with 7 home runs and 61 runs batted in last season for Oakland.
