Jays Uncertain About McGowan's Status
Toronto right-handed pitcher Dustin McGowan, who underwent surgery in July to repair the frayed labrum in his pitching shoulder, may not be ready to pitch this season.  "I'm not sure he's going to come back at all this year. Let's hope he does. But I'm not sure," manager Cito Gaston said.

Ryan's Lack of Velocity Concerns Jays
Left-handed pitcher B.J. Ryan's fastball has been clocked as low as 84 miles an hour this spring, leading to speculation that the Blue Jays may need to turn elsewhere for a closer this season.  "I can't really answer that right now," manager Cito Gaston said. "We're going to try to do the right thing."

Jays Sign Wade Miller
Right-handed pitcher Wade Miller has reportedly agreed to a Minor League deal with the Toronto Blue Jays, pending a physical.  Miller last pitched in 2007 with the Chicago Cubs, finishing 0-1 with a 10.54 ERA in three games.

Jays' Takahashi Injures Calf
Toronto left-handed pitcher Ken Takahashi strained his right calf Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays.  The 39-year-old Takahashi gave up two runs on four hits in his 1 2/3 innings of work.  Takahashi played over 14 seasons with Japan's Hiroshima Carp before signing a Minor League deal with the Blue Jays on Feb. 6.

Wells Strains Hamstring, Out One Month
Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Vernon Wells strained his left hamstring Monday and is expected to miss four weeks.  Wells was placed on the disabled list twice last season, including one for the same hamstring injury.
