Mariners Place Ichiro On DL
Seattle outfielder Ichiro Suzuki will begin the regular season on the 15-day disabled list with a bleeding ulcer.  "It was a very difficult decision to place Ichiro on the disabled list, especially since we know what a fierce competitor he is, and how important it is to him to help the team," Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said.

M's Beltre Bothered By Sore Shoulder
Seattle third baseman Adrian Beltre missed his fifth consecutive game with a sore left shoulder.  Mariners manager Don Wakamatsu said the move was precautionary and that Beltre is expected to play Thursday against the Kansas City Royals.

Mariners Scratch Branyan
Seattle first baseman Russell Branyan was held out of Monday's game against the San Francisco Giants because of a sore right calf muscle.  Branyan fouled a pitch off his calf during Sunday's game against the Chicago Cubs.

Bedard Cancels Bullpen Session
Mariners left-handed pitcher Erik Bedard missed a scheduled bullpen session Friday because of a sore buttocks.  Bedard was scratched from a start Wednesday and a throwing session on Thursday with the same ailment, which was originally reported as a sore right hip.

Mariners Sign Cordero
Seattle inked right-handed reliever Chad Cordero to a Minor League deal.  The 26-year-old Cordero led the National League with 47 saves as a member of the Washington Nationals in 2005.  Cordero has battled shoulder injuries since and appeared in only six games last season with Washington.
