Pirates Option Gorzelanny to AAA
Left-handed pitcher Tom Gorzelanny will begin the regular season with the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians.  Gorzelanny was competing for a spot in the rotation, but has allowed eight hits, five walks and posted a 7.00 ERA in nine innings this spring.

Bucs' Moss Should Be OK for Opener
Pirates outfielder Brandon Moss injured his right thumb Saturday, but should be able to play on Opening Day.  X-rays and an MRI on Monday revealed a significant contusion and mild sprain.  Moss injured himself trying to make a diving catch.

Pirate Fans Have Something To Look Forward To
There aren't many big league teams assured of making Major League history this year, but the Pittsburgh Pirates are one that is. All they have to do is do what they've done for the sixteen years prior to this one and they're assured a dubious place in big league lore. A losing season this year would give the Pirates seventeen in a row, the longest losing streak by any major North American sports franchise.

Hinske Out With Rib Injury
Pirates outfielder/infielder Eric Hinske may miss up to a week with a bruised left ribcage.  Hinske injured himself on Wednesday after crashing into the outfield wall.

Pirates Sign Gotay
Infielder Ruben Gotay agreed to a Minor League deal with Pittsburgh that included an invitation to Spring Training.  Gotay batted .235 with 2 home runs and 8 runs batted in for the Atlanta Braves last season.
