Rockies Choose Street As Closer
Colorado manager Clint Hurdle named right-handed pitcher Huston Street as the team's closer over righty Manuel Corpas.  "This is good news," Street said. "It's what I worked for. But that's not taking anything away from Manny. It's a choice made by the organization. That choice can change, too.

Rockies To Release Podsednik
Colorado general manager Dan O'Dowd said outfielder Scott Podsednik will be released.  "He's a good man, a professional. This is tough," O'Dowd said.  Podsednik, 33, is a career .271 hitter with 28 home runs, 201 runs batted in and 236 stolen bases in eight Major League seasons.

Street Makes Push To Become Rockies' Closer
Right-handed pitcher Huston Street has allowed one run in his past six innings and may challenge right-hander Manuel Corpas to become Colorado's closer this season.  "We are going to give it as long a look as we need to, and see what we need to see in order to make the best decision," manager Clint Hurdle said.

Rockies Put Two On The Trading Block
Troy E. Renck from the Denver Post reports that Colorado is shopping catcher Yorvit Torrealba and utilityman Jeff Baker.  Torrealba has $4 million remaining on his contract and Baker has been slowed by injuries during his career.

Tulowitzki Has Back Tightness
Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was held out of Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers because of tightness in his lower back.  Tulowitzki took batting practice but was taken out of the lineup as a precaution.
