Royals Sign Ponson
Right-handed pitcher Sidney Ponson agreed to a Minor League deal with the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday.  Ponson finished 8-5 with a 5.04 ERA last season with the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees.

Rounding The Bases With The Royals
The battles in camp are beginning to intensify for the second base and starting rotation slots, and the Royals will get back a couple guys they lost for the WBC. At second base, Willie Bloomquist continues to reportedly make a name for himself as a starter, even though the move would smack of Ross Gload being the full-time 1B, which hasn't worked out that well.

Royals: Teahen Trade Just Talk
Kansas City officials denied trade talks involving infielder/outfielder Mark Teahen heading to the New York Yankees.  New York third baseman Alex Rodriguez will be out six to nine weeks and reports said the Yankees are exploring possible options.

Royals Bulster Pen
The biggest news out of Royals camp in the last week was the signing of free agent reliever Juan Cruz as a key setup man for Joakim "The Mexicutioner" Soria. My, and others', first question is why not Cruz first instead of throwing big bucks at Kyle Farnsworth? But the Royals ended up with both of them, and Cruz seems to be a key acquisition for GM Dayton Moore. It was announced Wednesday Cruz would be skipping the first round of WBC play for the Dominican Republic. To make room on the 40-man roster, Esteban German was DFA'd and I assume will get released like P Neal Musser did.

Blister KO's Royals' Waechter
Kansas City right-handed reliever Doug Waechter will miss a few days because of a blister on his pitching hand.  Waechter developed the blister after throwing a hitless inning against the San Diego Padres on Feb. 28.
