Tigers Place Bonderman on DL
Detroit pitcher Jeremy Bonderman will begin the regular season on the 15-day disabled list due to tightness in his right shoulder.  The move is retroactive to Monday.

Tigers Cut Sheffield Loose
Detroit released designated hitter/outfielder Gary Sheffield on Tuesday and will be responsible for his $14 million salary this season.  Sheffield, 39, is one home run shy of 500 for his career.

Tigers Trade For Braves' Josh Anderson
Detroit sent right-handed pitcher Rudy Darrow to Atlanta for outfielder Josh Anderson.  Anderson, 26, batted .294 with 3 home runs, 12 runs batted in and 10 stolen bases in 40 games for the Braves last season.  Darrow, 24, is 9-6 with a 2.52 ERA in three Minor League seasons.

Tigers Place Two Pitchers on DL
Detroit placed left-handed pitcher Dontrelle Willis and right-hander Joel Zumaya on the disabled list on Sunday.  Willis was placed on the DL with an anxiety disorder and Zumaya is suffering from a sore right shoulder.

Verlander Named Tigers Opener Day Starter
Detroit manager Jim Leyland announced that right-handed pitcher Justin Verlander will be the team's Opening Day starter April 6 at the Toronto Blue Jays.  Verlander finished 11-17 with a 4.84 ERA last season with the Tigers.
